Concerns Universe Foundation is a community development project and a registered charity that encourages self help through education. CUF was registered as a non-profit organization in 2001.

Establishing Concerns was the lifelong dream of Gnana Chitra, now Concerns Executive Director. Chitra, pictured here, spent more than twenty years carrying out various programmes targeted towards the underprivileged. She had, and has, the noble vision of bettering the lives of children and women in areas of poor housing and low incomes. She recognised that every individual has the potential to change their own life   and become economically independent and socially dignified. With this in mind, she realised that providing the opportunity, the motivation and the encouragement to do so is the most important task. Once a single life is transformed, this can spread to the family and very soon to the community. From little seeds – great trees grow. By educating and motivating children and mothers, localities can thrive. This is very much the philosophy of Concerns.
