SKILL DEVELOPMENT FOR EMPLOYMENT GENERATION

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
The project envisages imparting vocational skills among the unemployed women and adolescent girls through appropriate training to bring them into the process of production and thus empower them to dispel the gender disparity and emerge economically independent and socially dignified. The proposed plan was started functioning from 1st April 2014

PROPOSED PROJECT ACTIVITY:
The skill proposed to be imparted is Stitch-craft / Tailoring would endow them an identity of being skilled, employed and earning and income.

UNIT – I Orientation and introduction of common tools and workshop rules – Development of an idea of tailoring

– Types of sewing machines and its operations
– Parts of a machine and their functions
– Types and size of needles, threads and buttons
– Commercial entrepreneurship

UNIT -II Introduction to hand sewing – Types of threads their size and application
– Types of stitches
– Materials used
– Hand tools
– Population

UNIT – III Introduction to sewing or peddling- Introduction to elementary sewing machine and its use
– Types of stitches according to materials
– The sewing machine
– Working and adjustment belt tension, repair and lubrication
– Pedaling
– Family welfare
UNIT – IV Button holding
Terms used in tailoring
Measurements, cutting out, making up and fitting body rise and width Types of buttons, Stitches used, Tailoring

Updates
* An average of 18 women gets trained each day.
* Since women requested periodic Spoken English Classes& Computer Literacy Classes were started

Till March 2015:
Women were trained in basic garment making – 40
Women got trained in zari work – 02
Women under going training in basic garment making & Hand embriodery – 19
